IIS 7 – Change Port for Default Web Site

leave a comment »

I installed Team Foundation Server (TFS) 2012 yesterday to do some integration testing for a client. I installed it on my 2008 R2 Windows Server which runs IIS 7.5.

When you install TFS it also installs SharePoint, SharePoint happily installed itself and took over port 80 on my server. Now I did go for a very straightforward wizard installation so there may have been a way to instruct the installer to not use port 80.

The quickest way for me to do what I want to do is simply assign a new port to Default you will also need to remove Default from listening on port 80. I decided I wanted to have Default listen on port 81.

  1. Open IIS Manager
  2. Select Default Web Site
  3. Right Click
  4. Select Edit Bindings
  5. Remove Entry for http 80 binding
  6. Add New Entry for http 81 binding
  7. Restart/Start Default Web Site

Capture

Done, hope this helps.

Slackware 13 – Upgrade to Current

with 2 comments

I am currently using Slackware 13.37 – Stable and I also use as my Window ManagerĀ  KDE 4.5.5 which came with this version of Slackware. I use slackpkg to manage my installed packages because I am a Slacker.

Today I decided to upgrade to Current which includes KDE 4.8.2, the 3.2.13 kernel and many other new packages. Here is how I did it.

As root

Comment out any mirrors used under Stable and then uncomment the mirror you wish to
use under Current.
1. nano /etc/slackpkg/mirrors

2. slackpkg update

3. slackpkg install-new

4. slackpkg upgrade-all

5. slackpkg clean-system

6. reboot
